The Earth is what we all have in common.

Wendell berry

Earth Day is an annual celebration that occurs on April 22 each year. We celebrate the achievements of the environmental movement and recognize the need to protect and preserve our wonderful planet.

My family began to celebrate Earth Day when my oldest was a preschooler and in that phase of our life, simplicity was best. We crafted and did activities that were simple for her age. I also began to teach her the value of cleaning up the roadside in our neighborhood. I have continued this tradition with my other children and would like to think that it is helping to raise them with a love and respect for our Earth.

Many families participate in community efforts to clean up natural places in their area. Other families will choose to celebrate solo and might find activities to do at home. If you are looking for simple crafts and activities to celebrate the occasion and possibly sneak in learning a few skills, look no further than these 20 simple Earth Day activities for families.
